Overview
The Char Dham Yatra is a set of four pilgrimage destination in Uttarakhand comprises Badrinath, Dwaraka, Rameshwaram, Puri which believes that visiting these sites helps achieve “Moksha” According to the Hindu mythology, Badrinath came into existence when Nar-Narayan, an avatar of Lord Vishnu in there. At that time this place filled with berry trees (In Sanskrit berries are called Badri), so this place was named Badrivan(the forest of berries). The place where Nar Narayan did Tapasya, a large berry tree formed to cover the Narayan from the rain & Sun. so this place called Badri Nath. The four ancient pilgrimage sites in Uttarakhand state Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath are also called the Chota Char Dham Yatra which is starts from the Haridwar City.
